TRIP: Naturalist Guided Hike, Powder Major Forest
Powder Major’s Forest is a historical and natural gem that unites 3 towns. This summer, the Forest Society will be extending the forest through our Crosby project, adding acres to the existing 193 acres of conservation land. Why and how do we conserve land? What makes this forest so remarkable? Find out with a guided hike through multiple diverse forest landscapes, adjoining wetlands of the Oyster River, and patches of meadow on it’s way back to becoming a dense, mature forest. Please call for more hiking terrain details. Bagged lunch will be provided. We will call later for meal choice.
Notes:
This hike will be approximately 2 miles. Depending on the conditions and needs of the group, the hike lead may reduce the length of the hike using smaller trails intersecting the forest. There is no steep incline or decline, and paths are well maintained. Some sections may be wet/muddy, or narrow. Some tripping hazards, such as stones and roots, will intersect the trail. Due to the length and warm weather, trekking poles and extra water are recommended. There are no restrooms available on this trip.
