Explore Portsmouth with Naturalist Steve
Spring 2026
- The Sagamore Headlands has an interesting history of land use and currently is one of my favorite places to enjoy a river/woods walk year-round in Portsmouth. Join this walk to explore the trails, discuss past land use, visit a variety of wetlands, admire special old trees, and enjoy the flow of Sagamore Creek.
- April 18, 9-11 AM
- Location: Meet at the Jones Ave Recreation Land Parking lot located on Jones Ave.
- The Urban Forestry Center mirrors the Sagamore Headlands along Sagamore Creek and offers many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Join this walk to explore some of the trails and focus on tree identification and natural history.
- May 16, 9-11 AM
- Location: Meet in the parking lot of the Urban Forestry Center near the visitor center.
- Peirce Island and the Piscataqua River are part of what makes Portsmouth. Join this walk to learn about tides, explore the trails to view the surrounding salt marshes and harbor activities.
- June 27, 9-11 AM
- Location: Parking lot by the Portsmouth Outdoor Pool on Peirce Island Road.
Pre-registration required. 20 people max. Free.
